Thomas Shull, TSC, MS, CCC-SLP | President | 📧

Thomas Shull has worked as a cued language transliterator and transliterator educator for more than thirty years. He developed the CAECS-R word-level assessment of receptive cueing. His other professional interests include adaptations of cueing to other languages. In 2015, he adapted Cued Speech for Amharic – one of the primary languages spoken in Ethiopia. He has taught that system, Visual Amharic, at several schools for the deaf in Addis Ababa. He is proficient in cued French and teaches advanced cued British English at the summer family learning conference held annually by the national Cued Speech association of France. He is a founding member of the Académie Internationale sur les Adaptations de «CUED» (AISAC) – an international committee that oversees all adaptations of cueing to the world’s languages. He currently works as a speech-language pathologist for the Boston Public School system and teaches graduate-level coursework in phonetics at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions where he also serves as the Lead of Online Prerequisites for Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Earl Fleetwood, MA, CI/CT, TSC | Vice President | 📧

Mr. Fleetwood holds a master's degree in ASL-English Interpretation from Gallaudet University. His master's thesis examines the goal, role, results, and efficacy of signed language interpreting in hearing mainstream educational settings. Mr. Fleetwood has served as Director of Certification for the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), the national certifying body for signed language interpreters in the United States. He is also a co-founder of the TECUnit and an original member of its Code of Conduct and CLTNCE/CLTSLA development team. He has conducted research on cued, signed, and tactile language and is published in a variety of books and journals. He is also co-author of a variety of instructional material, including CLT: Theory and Application, Becoming a Proficient Cuer, Building Cue Reading, and Cued American English: Gaining Fluency.

Mr. Fleetwood is co-author of Cued Language Structure: An Analysis of Cued American English Based on Linguistic Principles. CLS introduces the concept of cued language, and expounds on Fleetwood and Metzger’s research that shows cueing to be an autonomous visible articulately process.

Mr. Fleetwood co-edits Gallaudet University’s Studies in Interpretation Series. He serves in private practice as a certified signed language interpreter and certified cued language transliterator. He credits his deaf sister for giving meaning to his visual language endeavors.

Emilie Mulholland, MEd | Secretary | 📧

Emilie Mulholland is a deaf consumer who has been using cued language transliterators since she was 12 years old. She current works as an early interventionist for families who have a deaf or hard of hearing child from birth to 3 years old. She and her husband have three children, one of whom also uses cued language transliterators in school. She is passionate about the provision of qualified transliterators for equal access to information.

Jane Dolan, TSC | Treasurer | 📧

Jane has worked as a nationally certified cued language transliterator for 30 plus years in a variety of different settings. Her family was the first family to ever use cued American English with her deaf sister, Leah. She holds an accounting degree and worked as a staff accountant for a CPA firm before deciding that her true passion was Cued Speech and the proper practice of cued language transliteration. She is also a transliterator trainer with Language Matters, Inc. She served on the North Carolina Interpreter and Transliterator Licensure Board for six years ending her service as the chairman. She is committed to high standards and certification to promote the profession of cued language transliteration.

Suhad Keblawi, TSC | Executive Director | 📧

First of all, Suhad is the mother of two children (now adults) – Jill & Nabeel. Nabeel grew up cueing from the age of four and half years old. Suhad is a lead cued language transliterator (CLT) with Fairfax County Public Schools in Fairfax, VA and has worked as a CLT for over thirty years. She is the grant coordinator for the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and is responsible for providing training opportunities for all cued language transliterators in the state of Virginia. Suhad has a bachelor’s degree in Multicultural Communication from George Mason University. She is a nationally certified CLT holding a Transliteration Skills Certificate (TSC) awarded by the TECUnit in 1994.

Additionally, Suhad is affiliated with Language Matters Inc. (LMI) and is a qualified trainer of cued language transliterators. Also, Suhad is nationally certified instructor of Cued American English. Suhad develops teaching materials for Cued American English at the beginner and intermediate/ advanced level, as well as training materials for CLTs. She is currently an adjunct instructor at Northern VA Community College where she teaches Cued American English Levels I & II. In addition, Suhad has been on the board of the National Cued Speech Association (NCSA) since 2014 and currently serves as its Treasurer.

Brad Buran, PhD | Advisor

Brad Buran is a native deaf cuer who has used Cued Speech all his life. He is a research instructor at Oregon Health and Science University studying the effect of hearing loss on auditory perception. After he lost his hearing to meningitis when he was 14 months old, his parents moved across the country so that he could receive the support services he needed. His parents, siblings and wife are fluent cuers and he's had cued language transliterators from preschool through graduate school. He is also the co-founder of DailyCues and has worked with Language Matters, Inc. to train cued language transliterators. He is committed to the development of rigorous standards and reliable testing methods for cued language transliterators.
